    • Brakes & Bell: Each bike must have functioning brakes and a bell to alert other road users.
  3. Helmet Use
    • While helmets are not legally required, they are highly recommended for safety and are available with all rental bicycles from us.
  4. Highway Usage
    • Cycling on highways is discouraged and is often prohibited in some areas. Look for signs that indicate whether cycling is allowed, if you are unsure then er on the side of caution and find another route.
  5. Penang Bridges
    • It is illegal to ride a bicycle across either of the two Penang Bridges.
    • If you do wish to cross over to the mainland you can use the ferry service.
    • The ferry terminal situated on Weld Quay (Pengkalan Weld). This is a pedestrian and motorcycle ferry which operates to the Penang Sentral train station in Butterworth. Tickets can be bought before embarking.
  6. Penalties for Non-Compliance
    • Reckless or careless riding can result in fines between RM1,000 and RM5,000 and imprisonment of up to 12 months.
